The best burger I've ever eaten, at Umami Burger in Los Angeles, and worth every penny.

Signs

These guys get their own sign

On the road to Mittenwald, Germany
Signs often reveal enough information to figure out where they were taken.  Obviously the sign above was not taken in the US, because the speed limit is in kilometers.  And apparently, it's in a fairly rural place to have cows but not rural enough that they need to post a "cow crossing" sign.

Signs in foreign countries are often amusing.  If you can't accurately interpret the words, you can still get the gist of it.  This was taken in Wurzburg, Germany and was posted atop a fortress wall.  However, like many a determined American, it didn't stop me from sitting on the wall to get a good photo of the town below.

We were waiting for our train to pull into the station on our way to Salzburg, Austria.  This sign means business.  STAY OFF THE TRACKS! it screams.

In gratitude

This week I am grateful for:

Friends to dance with and to share our stories
Flirtations
A newly decorated home office
My boyfriend and all his considerate, thoughtful gestures
My son who asked if we could go out to dinner so he could spend time with me
The promise of warm days this week
Sleeping in

Home

Today's prompt is home.  What does home mean to me?  A place of refuge and a retreat, where I am accepted for who I am.

It is my domain, a place where I get to make the rules.

It means safety and security, a place to lay my head and to snuggle up, reading a book with a glass of wine nearby.

A softly glowing candle smelling of freshly baked oatmeal cookies.

Tidy and uncluttered.

Shades of green and brown, taupe and ivory.  The juxtaposition of a sheer, swirly valance and a beaded, glittering ornament.

Framed photographs of my kids.

The coolness of shiny, metal appliances and slabs of deeply colored granite.  The warmth of an ivory, fringed throw and the sheen of satin pillows.

Light me up

Shutter sisters prompt:  Today I ask you, what brings you comfort, lights you up and begs you to photograph it? Share with us today.

Venice Beach

In Aruba, I remember the Lawyer driving furiously along the main road, egged on by me.  The sun was setting and I needed him to get us to the beach before it was too late.  It can be difficult to capture a sunset in Aruba.  Clouds often obscure the view.

Last summer in Yosemite, I was the one to drive hurriedly, hoping to catch the sunset's orange glow against the rocky domes on our last day.

On my recent trip to LA, I was able to capture sunset at Venice Beach and in Santa Monica.
